BLACK BOX MCR kerbside collection in Monmouth The MCR Black Box scheme currently collects on a weekly basis from most of the South of the county (as far as Usk), and parts of the North. The towns of Abergavenny, Caldicot, Chepstow and Monmouth are covered, and many villages and rural areas (see full list below). Every household is given a black box, which is emptied on a set day by our collection crews. The material is sorted as it is collected into compartments on the trucks, to ensure that what we take is what we can recycle. It then goes back to our yard in Caldicot and is ‘bulked up’, before being sent off to reprocessors. We need boxes to be left where they can be easily seen and are accessible from the road. If you have difficulty carrying your box, we can give you an assisted collection and/or a smaller container which is easier to handle. We collect on the same day every week, except after bank holidays, and start picking up at 8.30am. In pilot areas householders are given two boxes - one green and one black - and have additional materials collected. These are:
The areas covered at the moment are parts of Caldicot, the Danes in Chepstow, Crick, Caerwent and most of the Wye Valley. Bank Holiday Weeks we usually collect one day later than normal. The areas we cover at the moment are:
WORKPLACE WASTE
Schools, pubs, hotels, offices, shops and other workplaces may be able to use MCR’s services. There are wheelybins available for larger pick-ups. Our Workplace Waste Recycling Scheme is tailored to suit the customer, and will reduce the amount of rubbish going out, and hopefully the amount spent on it. Each pick-up is slightly different, and can be free or a small charge. We already collect from around 100 local workplaces and can recycle: Paper Cardboard
Glass
Cans
Polythene
Coffee cups
Other materials by arrangement
