The company will ensure that it has an appointed Environmental Champion and that all staff and directors are trained, involved and committed to continual environmental improvement.

MCR recognises that we produce carbon dioxide and possibly litter and will take all appropriate steps to minimise the company’s impact on the environment and prevent pollution. We will:

  • Avoid any action which might be detrimental to the biodiversity of the project area, ensuring its commitment to pollution prevention.
  • Seek to ensure that no action will be taken which damages local distinctiveness and take any reasonable opportunity to enhance it.
  • Comply fully with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Attempt to minimise vehicle emissions by avoiding unnecessary journeys, regularly servicing vehicles, driving sympathetically and investigating opportunities for acquiring or converting vehicles to alternative fuels.
  • Reduce risks to public health by frequent collections of specified recyclate.
  • Sort waste in a location close to where it is generated, and seek local processors and merchants where possible.
  • Seek to ensure that all products and services procured come from sustainable and local sources.

MCR will operate systems and procedures to ensure we adhere to our environmental policy. We will:

  • Periodically review and update this policy (at least annually).
  • Regularly monitor and review our environmental impacts.
  • Implement an environmental improvement plan and update it annually.
  • Select suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors with regard to environmental and ethical concerns.

MCR will:

  • Educate employees and volunteers to reduce, reuse or recycle any waste generated by their operations. This is intrinsic to the operations.
  • Make all employees aware of the company environmental policy.
  • Make the policy available to all interested parties.
  • Offer training to its staff, volunteers and placements, giving them skills to help them in the workplace. All staff will work in decent conditions.
  • Work in partnership with Probation Services, thus helping to rehabilitate offenders back into the community.
  • Help to raise awareness of global issues and provide an opportunity for people to “think globally, act locally”.
